DESCRIPTION:My research project “A comparative analysis of the metaphoric
 al concepts for loneliness and community in Russian and English Rock mus
 ic of the 1980s/1990s” will deal with\, as the title suggests\, the conc
 epts for loneliness and community in the two languages/countercultures. 
 I have selected five alternative Rock bands per language which can be co
 nsidered “spokesmen for that generation” and will compare the different 
 source domains for the two concepts in the lyrics of those bands. I hope
  that my research will reflect the states that both cultures were in in 
 the 80s/90s and thus show in how far the musicians were influenced by th
 eir contemporary generation and vice versa\, as well as highlight the di
 fferent conceptualizations of community and loneliness in an individuali
 stic and a socialistic society.
