Podium: Why should(n't) I do a PhD and how do I get there?
Round table and question round
In the course of studying at university level, many people come to ask themselves: What if I went and did a PhD? This is, first and foremost, a very personal question but it is also intimately tied to all sorts of other factors that most people don't actually know that much about. How does that even work, getting a PhD, and what are good reasons for and maybe also against getting a PhD?
At this round table event, a number of PhD students from different subdisciplines of linguistics will talk about their way into their doctoral studies. We will talk about reasons and ways and the big question: If we could do it all over again, would we? And what would we maybe do a little differently this time around? There will also be lots of room for your questions - the practical, the philosophical, and the personal.
Hopefully, you will leave this event with a little more clarity about your own way after finishing your degree programme.
