Version v0.8
Workshop: Workshop: ELAN
Kostenloses Programm zur Audio-/Videotranskription
Traditionally, audiovisual data has been reduced to written transcripts and analyses. With the advent of technology being created specifically for language research, tools have been developed to help us work directly with reference to the linguistic signal. This workshop will introduce participants to the basic functions of ELAN, a linguistic annotation tool for audio and video recordings (ELAN 2021). Participants will learn how to set up a new ELAN file from scratch; import and synchronise media files; understand tiers and tier types; as well as segment, transcribe, and annotate files in an efficient manner. They will also learn some tips and tricks for working with ELAN, such as basic troubleshooting, smart ways to use the search function, short cuts, and ways to speed up the process of transcribing and analysis, including cross-platform links with Praat, and basic interlinearisation. This workshop is intended for those with no knowledge of ELAN but will also be valuable to those who primarily work with annotation mode.
