Visualization of toponym distributions with R
an R package
The analysis of toponyms can open up questions concerning language contact, history, movements and more.
As a tool for such an endeavor, we created an R package that lets users find interesting toponyms, analyze data frames, compare regions, produce simple statistics and most notably generate maps of given toponyms.
We will present the main functionalities and give illustrative examples from different areas of the world. Technical details will be left out but can be provided afterward.
