Vortrag: Language, time, and space embodied

Spatio-temporal relations in cognition, or how space and time are reflected in our mind

In this presentation, we will contemplate the nature of spatial dimension in language, and its interconnectivity with time. The main question is how the domains of time and space are represented in our cognitive system. Moreover, how those representations are reflected in language and whether they effect one another.

At first, I will dwell on the idea of time and its interpretation within the scope of science
throughout its evolution from ancient times in philosophy to Newton in physics.
Then I will touch on spatial representations in language and study the cognitive connection between language and space in neuroanatomy. Finally, we will study empirical evidence of the mutual effect of the space-time representations and language.
