Vortrag: Taqbaylit Morphosyntax from an RRG Perspective

Actor markers as pronominal anaphors

This study investigates the morphosyntactic encoding of arguments in Taqbaylit (Berber) from an RRG perspective. I argue that actor markers function as pronominal anaphors.

This study investigates the morphosyntactic encoding of arguments in Taqbaylit (Berber) from the perspective of Role and Reference Grammar (RRG). I argue that actor markers in Taqbaylit are pronominal anaphors, while the correferent referential phrases (RPs) are to be analyzed as hosted by extra-core slots (ECSs). I further demonstrate that Taqbaylit is not a prototypical dependent-marking language, and relate the proposed head-marking RRG analysis at the sentential level to "Headward Migration of Affixes." In the course of the presentation, I provide a general typological overview of Taqbaylit, a brief introduction to RRG, and show how RRG concepts can be applied to morphosyntactic phenomena in the language under investigation.
