Speaker: David Lampshire
I'm a 32 year old who is back studying in order to follow a passion for language. I moved to Norway from the UK 4.5 years ago, and since then have been focused on my linguistic interests. I am in my final year of an undergraduate-degree in European Language (Linguistics, English language, & German) at the University of Oslo. I am planning to follow this up with a two-year MSc in Linguistics at the same institution.
My primary academic interests lie in theoretical linguistics, within the areas of syntax, morphology, semantics, pragmatics. Specific interests include Germanic syntax and clausal architecture (V2 phenomenon, V2-violations, Scandinavian subordinate clauses).
My intellectual interests include political science/philosophy, society & culture. I am also interested in how language and rhetoric are used in the public domain/media/politics.
I have recently started working part-time as a Norwegian language teacher at a language school for non-native speakers who have moved to Norway (teaching A1-A2 CEFR level conversation and grammar classes).
